Go to sectionWe all know that olive tree is traditionally a symbol of the Mediterranean culture. Its fruits and their oil hold an important role in the Mediterranean diet by protecting against coronary heart challenges and cardiovascular stress in general.1
The biological properties of olive oil are related not only to its fatty acid composition, but also to the presence of some components with strong antioxidant activity, mostly phenolic compounds.1
Opextan®, Olea europaea L. pulp extract, is standardized to convey polyphenols like hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol and isoacteoside but also, among all the phytonutrients, verbascoside, considered the most powerful antioxidant in olive oil1. It has been proven to support skin health2, too.
Olive polyphenols are free radical scavengers with a direct impact on skin health1. Indeed, Opextan® has been found beneficial in supporting skin health and optimizing oxidative status in healthy volunteers2,3.
The characteristic phytonutrient in Opextan® is verbascoside, a very potent antioxidant, 5-fold more active than oleuropein1, with free-radical scavenging activity that has a direct impact on skin health, preventing oxidative stress associated with wrinkles generation, skin thinning and dehydration1.
The distinctiveness of Opextan® lies in the fine selection of raw materials and in a unique expertise that makes the development process possible, thanks to a close cooperation with Kanebo Cosmetics Inc.
Italian olive varieties are screened and selected by botanists at their best harvesting time and harvested with care for guaranteeing the highest levels of verbascoside and other polyphenols.
