For centuries, plants from the Berberis genus have been widely used in traditional Asian medicine for their health benefits; among them, a particular species – Berberis aristata – is also mentioned in the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India.
From a scientific point of view, berberine is recognized as a natural bioactive alkaloid obtained from plants belonging to the Berberis genus, proven to favorably modulate blood profiles such as plasma lipids and glucose levels, contributing to metabolic wellbeing, and supporting hormone balance to smooth skin imperfections.
